Emiliano Granado | Outlier

Thursday, March 27th, 2014

Emiliano Granado just completed these great shots for Outlier and you’ll see below why we think they’re the best yet!

Emiliano told us that the highlight of Outlier’s New Way Shorts (aside from being the only pair of shorts he needs) is that they truly can be worn for just about anything and everything, and of course that includes underwater adventures. Shooting on location in Mexico, EG and team were in full scuba gear underwater for an hour at a time, working out hand signals to communicate photo direction and when they needed to come up to the surface.

Scuba certified or not (he’s not), we think Emiliano’s images beautifully to capture Outlier’s goal of making good looking clothing to improve the way we move through this world.

Great work, EG!

Emiliano Granado | One Tough Mudder

Monday, January 27th, 2014

It takes a certain someone to push themselves to run a marathon… and then it takes another type of person entirely to add flames, barbed wire and a tank of frigid water to the mix. Last fall, Emiliano Granado accompanied Lizzie Widdicombe of The New Yorker to a Tough Mudder competition in New Jersey;  Widdicombe’s article details her experience as a spectator and then participant of a Tough Mudder event. The images below are just a few that EG shot of the competition. Clearly, this isn’t an event for the faint of heart but as Emiliano noted, the spirit of camaraderie really comes through. See the rest of the images from EG’s time at the Tough Mudder and other new work right here.

One week. One photo.

Thursday, January 9th, 2014

What started as a push to get some prints out the door during the holiday season has now turned into a yearlong project for our Emissary Artist, Emiliano Granado. We caught up with him this week to find out more about his new project.

EA: Hey, EG! We’re loving your new project – congrats on selling out of the first week’s print! Can you tell us a little more about it?
EG: Thanks! Sure, happy to help.

EA: What was the inspiration to start this project?
EG: I did a giveaway of some of my prints during the holidays and got a lot of response from it, so I figured that people want prints…  It feels good to get prints up on people’s walls. It also really forces me to stay current in my work and I also get to potentially dig up some old gems.

EA: How do you choose the photo?
EG: Choosing the photo is the hardest part. I’m still working on whether I am going to choose based on a theme or at random. January has a theme… for now. Guess we’ll see how it goes. Part of the fun is digging up some old photos that no one has seen, but I’m not opposed to using newer ones either.

EA: Will this be a continuing project?
EG: Not sure. Hopefully I can segue this energy into finally getting around to printing some zines/books that I’ve been waiting to work on for awhile.

52 weeks. 52 photos. We can’t wait to see what the year brings. Thanks for sharing your project with us, Emiliano!
Check out www.quesofrito.com and set your alarm each week – we’re thinking these prints will be selling out quickly!

It’s Nice That

Tuesday, December 10th, 2013

Emiliano Granado has been photographing the beautiful simplicity of Outlier’s clothing for quite some time now, but we’re always pleased to hear when someone discovers his beautiful images for the first time. In this instance, it is James Cartwright of  “It’s Nice That,” a website championing creativity across the art and design world. A big thanks to Mr. Cartwright for featuring Emiliano’s striking photos – and as always, congrats to EG for such great work!
