Olson + Pohlad | Steve + Anne Truppe

Wednesday, May 13th, 2015

A few months ago Olson Minneapolis chose Steve + Anne Truppe to shoot an asset library for Pohlad Companies. The duo packed their car and headed to Minnesota to brave the cold and snow. Over the course of 3 days, Steve + Anne shot video and photography at 12 locations. The work was so well received that a new website was developed around it. Bravo Steve + Anne!

Michael Clinard on This is the What

Thursday, January 30th, 2014

Check out this great Q&A with Michael Clinard! He spoke with Kate Osba of the website This is the What about his creative process and the differences in how he approaches conceptual and business shoots. Although they’re different, as Michael states, “I find there’s a common theme running throughout both styles: a re-imagined or elevated take on the everyday world.”

We agree with Kate – it’s incredibly interesting to hear about the journey of the evolution of each project. A big thanks to Michael for sharing his process! Check out the rest of Michael’s work on his website.

Andrew Reilly | Michelob Ultra

Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

Talk about California Dreamin’ on a winter’s day!

Below are some of the beautiful images that Emissary Artist Andrew Reilly captured for Palm + Havas for their Michelob Ultra campaign. Andrew and crew traveled to Vancouver, Whistler, Malibu and ended in LA, shooting alongside the broadcast production so the team really had to manage their time to get the most out of the locations and talent – sometimes getting only 10-15 minutes before they broke down for another shot. We’d argue that you would never be able to tell the shots were rushed – the final images are absolutely beautiful!

Check out some behind the scenes shots and finished images below. And a big shout out to Lindsay Tyler (Palm + Havas’ art producer) and the entire Palm + Havas team for working tirelessly to assist in ensuring Andrew and team got what they needed for each shot. You can see the full sized images and the rest of Andrew’s new work right here.

This campaign is also featured on the Workbook today!

Emiliano Granado | One Tough Mudder

Monday, January 27th, 2014

It takes a certain someone to push themselves to run a marathon… and then it takes another type of person entirely to add flames, barbed wire and a tank of frigid water to the mix. Last fall, Emiliano Granado accompanied Lizzie Widdicombe of The New Yorker to a Tough Mudder competition in New Jersey;  Widdicombe’s article details her experience as a spectator and then participant of a Tough Mudder event. The images below are just a few that EG shot of the competition. Clearly, this isn’t an event for the faint of heart but as Emiliano noted, the spirit of camaraderie really comes through. See the rest of the images from EG’s time at the Tough Mudder and other new work right here.

Michael Clinard | BAMF (Bad Ass Mother Figure) Turns 103!

Friday, January 10th, 2014

A triple digit birthday calls for one heck of a celebration!

A few years ago our Emissary Artist, Michael Clinard, photographed Hilda Evelyn Kottman for a cover story in Seattle Weekly. This year she turned 103 and to celebrate, she and her grandson dedicated an afternoon to gambling, all-you-can-eat crab, and tattoos! Her birthday celebration became an all out internet sensation after the images were posted on Reddit and included in the section, “Ask Me Anything,” and has since been featured on various websites such as the Daily Mail and many others.

One of the main images being used is a stunning shot of Evelyn sitting proud amidst her impressive pickling collection, taken by Michael after their Seattle Weekly shoot. We think Michael did a beautiful job of capturing her carefree attitude and love that her story has brought a smile to so many people around the world. Imagine what birthday #104 will bring!
